Boston College Eagles vs Villanova Wildcats

Honestly? These are both kind of uninspired. I guess a wild cat figure is somewhat preferable to an eagle, which is rather cliche. Not that a wildcat isn't. Sigh. I guess I'll cheer for BC because I have a cousin who goes there. But Margaret, if I hear you got too drunk at any basketball watching celebration, I will revoke my support.
George Mason Patriots vs the Wichita State Shockers

I may be wrong but I think that George Mason is one of those schools that is mascot-less, although I don't know why. In comparison, we have the Shocker, which as a name itself isn't bad, but I have no idea what that thing is up there. A bee with some grass on its head? A banana? I don't know. And I'm reluctant to endorse The Shocker because I'm tired of 'the shocker' as a cultural phenomenon. However, because George Mason won't play, Wichita wins by forfeit.
Georgetown Hoyas vs Florida Gators

Now this is a good matchup. The gator is good because it represents the state, and is the namesake of a beloved beverage. Now the Hoya, on the other hand, is not actually what the bulldog is. What you see above is a bulldog, whereas a Hoya is something totally different. Whereas I might normally default to Florida for making more sense, I went to Georgetown and so we win. Besides, our mascot wears a tiny hat.
Washington Huskies vs Connecticut Huskies

Whaaaa? <boom> That was the sound of my own mind being blown. While I think dogfighting is wrong, Washington wins my support because their husky looks sleek, proud and determined, whereas UConn's looks dumb and a little drunk.
We'll see next week how this all works out. I think last year I predicted a staggering 50% of the winners, but that was just based on uniforms, not something as deadly serious as mascots.
